The Town Hall of Calvià has launched a new system that allows users to check real-time beach occupancy, becoming one of the most advanced municipalities in Mallorca in terms of tourism digitalisation.

Thanks to this initiative, both residents and tourists can check the status of several beaches in the municipality before heading there, accessing updated information about occupancy levels, water conditions, and other key indicators to enjoy the coastline more comfortably.

How to check Calvià beach occupancy in real time

calvia beach monitoring app

The information is now available through Calvià’s official beach website:

calvia.com/beaches

The system displays updated data every 10 minutes about:

  • Number of people on the sand
  • Number of swimmers in the water
  • Occupancy percentage compared to total capacity
  • Beach conditions

In the coming weeks, real-time information will also include:

  • Water temperature
  • pH level
  • Water turbidity

Which Calvià beaches have live monitoring

Currently, the system offers real-time information for beaches located in:

  • Peguera
  • Palmanova
  • Magaluf
  • Santa Ponça

The initiative is part of the Calvià Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) project, through which the municipality aims to optimise public services and improve the experience for residents and visitors.

The data disproves overcrowding concerns

One of the most striking aspects of the monitoring system is that the data collected during the summer of 2025 shows that no beach in Calvià exceeded 50% occupancy.

The busiest beach was Son Maties, which reached a maximum occupancy of 49.80% on 24 August.

Meanwhile, Magaluf beach recorded its highest number of bathers on 30 July, with an occupancy level of 27.58%.

These figures demonstrate that the municipality’s beaches maintain large open spaces available even during the busiest months of the tourist season.

Calvià strengthens its commitment to tourism quality

In addition to digitalisation, the municipality expects to renew its 15 Q Tourism Quality flags this year, consolidating its position as:

  • The leading municipality in the Balearic Islands for Q distinctions
  • The third in all of Spain

These certifications guarantee high standards of quality, services and sustainability on the municipality’s beaches, following the international UNE-ISO 13009 standard.

Another step towards smart tourism in Mallorca

With this new tool, Calvià continues positioning itself as one of the most innovative tourist destinations in Mallorca.

The ability to check live beach occupancy allows visitors to better plan their trips, avoid crowded areas, and enjoy the coastline with a much more comfortable and sustainable experience.

If you are looking for information about the least crowded beaches in Mallorca or want to know today’s beach occupancy levels in Calvià, this new platform becomes an essential tool for both tourists and residents.
