The new season coincides with a particularly significant date: 22 December 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Palma Municipal Band.

Under the motto Ressonàncies. Memòria, present i futur (Resonances. Memory, Present and Future), the band presents a musical journey that recognises the contribution of former members and conductors while giving prominence to its current musicians and new generations of performers.

The programme was presented in the lobby of Palma City Hall, known as Cort, with the participation of Councillor for Culture Javier Bonet, Director General of Music and Performing Arts Rafel Brunet, and the band’s principal conductor, José Enrique Martínez Esteve.

Music in the streets and educational concerts

The Palma Municipal Band’s activities will extend beyond the conservatory programme. Throughout the 2026–2027 season, the ensemble will continue performing in the streets of Palma and taking part in major events, including Palma Dansa and Family Day.

It will also continue collaborating with the island’s municipal music schools and conservatories, while organising educational concerts designed to introduce music to new audiences.

These initiatives include activities linked to awareness campaigns addressing social issues such as bullying, reinforcing the band’s educational and community role.

With this special season, Palma celebrates six decades of musical history and reaffirms the Municipal Band’s place at the heart of the city’s cultural life.
