The 2026 edition of Teatre de Barra takes us back to the 1980s with five short-format plays that will be performed every Thursday in restaurants and venues around Blanquerna and 31 de Desembre in Palma.
The new edition, presented under the theme “Nit de barra. Anys 80” (“Bar Night. The 80s”), begins on Thursday 17 September 2026 and will bring together theatre, gastronomy and the atmosphere of Palma’s bars and restaurants.
The programme will culminate in a grand finale on Saturday 24 October at 8:00 pm at the Teatre Municipal Maruja Alfaro Mar i Terra.
When is Teatre de Barra Palma 2026?
Teatre de Barra Palma 2026 will take place over six consecutive Thursdays, starting on 17 September, in different restaurants and venues in the Blanquerna and 31 de Desembre areas.
The initiative was presented at Palma City Hall by the Director General of Music and Performing Arts, Rafel Brunet, together with the creator, promoter and coordinator of Teatre de Barra, Javier Matesanz.
“Nit de barra. Anys 80”
The 2026 edition uses the 1980s as its main point of reference, bringing together five short-format productions inspired by the decade.
As in previous editions, the concept combines theatre and gastronomy, turning participating restaurants and bars into small stages where audiences can enjoy different performances throughout the evening.
The five Teatre de Barra plays
The programme features five productions, each with its own creative team and cast:
- “Berlin 89” – Written by Alfonso Morillas and directed by Xavi Núñez, starring Laura Andújar and Héctor Seoane.
- “Sa gàbia enganadora” – Written and directed by Bernat Molina, starring Joan Manel Vadell and Emili Gené.
- “No controles” – Written and directed by Pablo Valera, Lina Mira and Pau Pascual.
- “Jingles” – Written and directed by David Mataró, Marina Nicolau and Joan Vila.
- “Wall & Cass” – Written and directed by Marga Arrom, starring Miquel Àngel Torrens and Carme Serna.
Participating venues
The performances will once again take place in the venues that participated in the previous edition. The participating establishments are:
- Ca na Mercy
- S’Amagatall
- Bar Mavi
- Hotel Ars Magna
- Restaurante Udon
These restaurants and bars will become temporary theatre spaces, allowing audiences to experience the productions in an informal setting while enjoying the participating establishments’ gastronomic offering.
Teatre de Barra 2026 schedules
The performances will take place on Thursdays, with four different time slots:
- 7:30 pm
- 8:10 pm
- 8:50 pm
- 9:30 pm
This format allows spectators to move between different venues and enjoy several performances during the same evening.
Grand finale of Teatre de Barra 2026
The programme will conclude with the grand finale on Saturday 24 October 2026 at 8:00 pm at the Teatre Municipal Maruja Alfaro Mar i Terra.
The final event will include the presentation of the awards for the winning productions in the theatre category. For the past three editions, the event has also included a gastronomic category, recognising the best tapa prepared by the participating restaurants.
