Palma celebrates European Mobility Week from 15th to 22nd September 2026 with eight days of activities including Park(ing) Day, a major Diada de la Mobilitat, a community bike ride, accessibility workshops, family activities and technical sessions. The programme will end on the 22nd with World Car-Free Day and free travel on EMT Palma buses, as well as trains and the metro.
The European Mobility Week 2026 in Palma will begin this Tuesday, 15th September, one day before the official start of the European campaign, and will continue until Tuesday 22nd.
Under the slogan «Mobilitat per a tothom. Mobilitat intergeneracional», this year’s programme focuses on accessible and inclusive mobility for people of all ages.
The programme combines professional meetings on mobility and public transport with activities open to the public, children’s events, cycling, rail-related activities and a range of awareness initiatives.
European Mobility Week 2026 programme in Palma
Tuesday, 15th September: start of the technical sessions
The programme will begin on Tuesday 15th at Es Baluard Museu with the first of the Jornades Tècniques de Debat, taking place from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
The session will focus on collaboration between municipalities in the field of mobility and will feature representatives from Palma, Marratxí, Calvià and Llucmajor.
Wednesday 16th: sustainable mobility
The technical sessions will continue on Wednesday 16th, also from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, with a session dedicated to the Sustainable Mobility Act.
Representatives from EMT Palma, the Govern de les Illes Balears, Palma Airport, the Universitat de les Illes Balears and the Autoritat Portuària de les Balears, among other organisations, will take part.
Thursday 17th: accessibility, family activities and Font de Misteris
Thursday 17th will feature one of the most extensive programmes of the week.
In the morning, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, the technical sessions will address intergenerational mobility and the needs of older people.
In the afternoon, Plaça de Madrid will host activities from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm as part of the festivities organised by the Associació de Veïnats Es Fortí, including a BiciPalma bicycle maintenance workshop, sustainable mobility activities by EMT Palma and children’s entertainment.
In addition, Hostal Términus will host a session on accessible public transport and new technologies from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
At 8:00 pm, a new edition of Font de Misteris will begin, a night-time walk through Palma with a route suitable for people with reduced mobility. Places are limited and free registration will be available from 14th September via the email address provided by the organisers.
Friday, 18th September: Park(ing) Day
Park(ing) Day will come to Palma on Friday 18th, with activities taking place throughout the day at different locations around the city.
The initiative proposes temporarily transforming spaces normally used for vehicle parking into alternative, creative uses connected with public space.
Saturday 19th: major Diada de la Mobilitat in central Palma
One of the main events of the week will take place on Saturday, 19th September, approximately from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm, in Plaça del Mercat, carrer de la Unió and plaça del Rei Joan Carles I.
The Diada de la Mobilitat will feature activities for the whole family, including an exhibition of new EMT Palma and TIB buses, environmental workshops by Emaya, road safety activities by the Local Police, a play area, face painting, ONCE awareness activities and different spaces dedicated to sustainable mobility.
The programme will also include a swing class at 10:00 am, storytelling at 11:00 am, a mini disco at 12:00 pm and a Zumba session at 1:00 pm.
Estació Intermodal will also take part in the day with railway-related activities, including visits to the SFM Train and Metro Control Centre, held every 45 minutes between 9:30 am and 2:00 pm. Registration is free and compulsory.
Sunday 20th: bike ride through Palma
On Sunday 20th, at 10:30 am, a community bike ride will set off from plaça del Rei Joan Carles I.
The initiative aims to promote cycling as a sustainable and healthy means of transport.
Monday 21st: accessibility workshops and public transport awards
Monday 21st will begin with accessibility workshops at 10:30 am at carrer de Manacor, 8, next to bus stop 406.
In the afternoon, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, plaça d’Espanya will host the Premis a la Fidelitat al Transport Públic, recognising users of BiciPalma, EMT Palma and the Consorci de Transports de Mallorca.
Tuesday 22nd: Rutes Saludables, Volta a Mallorca amb Tren and free transport
European Mobility Week will come to an end on Tuesday 22nd with several activities.
From 10:00 am to 11:30 am, the Trobada de Rutes Saludables will take place, starting from the centre of parc de les Estacions and finishing at plaça Major.
The 11th Volta a Mallorca amb Tren will also take place that day, with participants meeting at 2:15 pm at the ticket barriers of Palma’s Estació Intermodal and finishing at around 8:00 pm. The route includes the metro to Parc Bit and trains to Manacor, Inca and sa Pobla before returning to Palma.
At 6:00 pm, historian Gaspar Valero will give the talk L’entorn de l’estació de Palma: de les Portes Pintades a la Intermodal at Hostal Términus.
Free buses, trains and metro on 22nd September
One of the main practical highlights will come on Tuesday, 22nd September, coinciding with World Car-Free Day.
Throughout the day, passengers will be able to travel free of charge across the entire EMT Palma bus network, as well as by train and metro.
The European Mobility Week programme is jointly organised by the Ajuntament de Palma, the Govern de les Illes Balears and the Consell de Mallorca, together with different organisations and bodies involved in transport, accessibility and sustainable mobility.
