Free guided tours of Palma’s historic shops: dates and registration

PalmaActiva is organising a new edition of its free guided tours of Palma’s emblematic shops. The tours will begin on 29th September 2026 and continue until April 2027, with a total of 22 tours available in Spanish and Catalan. Participants will be able to discover the history of traditional businesses such as La Pajarita, Bar Bosch, Forn Fondo, Espardenyeria Llunes and Sombrerería Casa Julià.

The guided tours of Palma’s historic shops return for a second edition with an expanded programme, following the success of the first edition, when all available places were booked within a short period.

The initiative, promoted by the Ajuntament de Palma through PalmaActiva, will give participants the opportunity to discover some of the city’s historic establishments, learn about traditional trades and explore the stories of the shopkeepers who have helped shape Palma’s identity.

The main new feature is the expansion of the programme from 14 to 22 free guided tours, eight more than in the first edition.

When are the guided tours of Palma’s historic shops taking place?

The second edition will begin on Tuesday, 29th September 2026 and continue until April 2027.

The programme will pause during December and January, coinciding with the Christmas shopping season.

The tours will be available in both Spanish and Catalan and will take place between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, lasting approximately an hour and a half, with a maximum of 20 participants per group.

Which shops will be visited? Two routes through central Palma

The guided tours will follow two itineraries covering different shopping areas in central Palma.

Route 1. From plaça d’Espanya to Cort

The first route will begin in the plaça d’Espanya area and continue towards Cort, passing several traditional businesses included in Palma’s Catalogue of Emblematic Establishments.

Among the establishments on the route are Bar Cristal, Espardenyeria Llunes, Fajas Reina, Tapicería Vidal, Teixits Es Tren, Panadería S’Estació and Estanc i Loteries Can Homar.

The tour will also pass Sombrerería Casa Julià, Calçats Neus Palou, Mimbrería Vidal, Rellotgeria Catalana, Carnisseria Cas Caparrot, Calzados Estarellas, Colmado La Montaña, Paraguas and Joyería Piña-Grau.

Route 2. From Cort to the Born

The second route will explore the historic centre from Cort to Passeig del Born, with planned stops at businesses specialising in gastronomy, crafts, fashion and other retail sectors.

The itinerary includes Café Moderno, Colmado Santo Domingo, Golfos Casual Wear, La Industrial, La Pajarita Bombonería and La Pajarita Charcutería.

Participants will also have the opportunity to discover Forn del Sto. Cristo, Forn Fondo, Bar Bosch, Quesada Decoración, Floristería La Rosaleda, Gelateria Can Miquel, Forn de la Pau and Can Martí.

Participation is free, but advance registration is required through the PalmaActiva website.

Bookings open two weeks before each tour, and each group is limited to a maximum of 20 participants, according to the information published for this second edition.

It is advisable to check availability in advance, particularly as places for the first edition were booked up quickly.

An opportunity to discover the history of Palma’s traditional shops

The tours will go beyond simply visiting shops. They aim to explain traditional trades, the stories behind each business and the relationship between the evolution of commerce and the transformation of the city.

The initiative also seeks to highlight the establishments included in Palma’s Catalogue of Emblematic Establishments, which recognises businesses for their history, distinctive character and contribution to local heritage.

The second edition is organised by PalmaActiva with the participation of the company Tomir Serveis Turístics.
