The Govern de les Illes Balears has reactivated the “Local Product Vouchers” campaign, an initiative aimed at boosting the consumption of local products and supporting the Balearic primary sector in the face of the international economic impact derived from the conflict in the Middle East.
The call is endowed with one million euros and is framed within Decree Law 1/2026, approved on April 1, which includes urgent measures to protect the economy of the Balearic Islands.
Local product vouchers in the Balearic Islands: up to €100 per person

The new edition of the local product vouchers in the Balearic Islands introduces significant improvements compared to previous campaigns. Each beneficiary can access up to €100, distributed in 10 vouchers of €10 each.
These vouchers can be used by applying one voucher for every €20 purchase in participating establishments.
The objective is twofold:
- Encourage the consumption of local products
- Directly support farmers, livestock producers, and fishermen in the islands
According to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, Joan Simonet, this is a measure to “strengthen the real economy of the islands and directly address the rising costs in the primary sector”.
Who can benefit from the local product vouchers
The campaign is aimed at people over 18 years old residing in the Balearic Islands, who will be able to redeem the vouchers at participating businesses and producers.
Eligible establishments include:
- Farms and agricultural holdings
- Direct sales points
- Agricultural and food cooperatives
- Fishermen’s associations
- Food industries
- Producer associations
- Other local product retail points
The aim is to strengthen the direct relationship between producers and consumers and make local products more accessible in everyday shopping.
What is considered a local product in the Balearic Islands
The campaign includes only products that meet the legal definition of local product, including:
- Agricultural products from the Balearic Islands
- Livestock products from the archipelago
- Fish, seafood and local aquaculture
- Foods with PDO, PGI or geographical indication
- Processed products made with local raw materials

Impact on the Balearic primary sector
The campaign allocates more than €909,000 in effective vouchers, equivalent to over 90,000 consumption vouchers.
It also includes territorial fairness criteria to ensure balanced distribution across islands:
- +30% for Formentera
- +20% for Ibiza and Menorca
According to the Govern, this measure aims to ensure that the economic impact reaches the entire archipelago in a balanced way.
Local product vouchers in the Balearic Islands: a measure to support responsible consumption
The Govern states that this initiative transforms institutional support into direct consumption, economic activity and reinforcement of Balearic local products.
Minister Joan Simonet has emphasized that the goal is clear: “to encourage proximity consumption and keep alive the agricultural, livestock, fishing and agri-food activity of the archipelago”.
