Sa Rua Marratxí 2024: A carnival of joy and creativity

Marratxí’s carnival parade, known as Sa Rua, is preparing to flood the streets of the town with colour, music and fun on Saturday 3rd February 2024. This annual event, eagerly awaited by residents and visitors alike, promises to be a day full of creativity and joy for all. It is the first carnival on the island, ahead of the one in Palma.

The meeting point will be the Olesa road, right in front of the Marratxí slaughterhouse, starting at 3:30 pm. The parade is scheduled to start at 4:30 pm, marking the beginning of a festive afternoon that promises to leave its mark on the memories of those who take part.

Registration Sa Rua Marratxí 2024

Sa Rua de Marratxí is open to any person or group wishing to join the parade, as long as they have previously registered at the Culture Department of Marratxí Town Hall. Registrations will be available from the 16th of January until the 30th of January 2024, from 8:15 to 14:00. To register, interested parties can call 971 797 624 or send an e-mail to cultura@marratxi.es.

Participants’ creativity and originality will be rewarded with generous prizes. The jury will evaluate the costumes in different categories, awarding the prize for Best Group Costume (more than 6 people) with a prize of 600 €. The second prize in this category will receive €450, while the Best Local Group Costume will be awarded €300. In addition, the Best Small Group or Family Costume (2 to 5 people) will be awarded with a prize of 300 €.

Marratxí carnival route

The route of Sa Rua Marratxí 2024 promises to take participants and spectators on a journey full of excitement. The parade will set off from the Marratxí slaughterhouse, head towards Sa Cabaneta, travel along the Olesa road, head towards the Marratxí Town Hall and culminate in the Plaza de la Iglesia de Sant Marçal.

This event, beyond the competition and prizes, seeks to encourage the active participation of the community, highlighting the importance of creativity, coexistence and artistic expression. Sa Rua Marratxí 2024 is presented as a unique opportunity to enjoy tradition and fun in a festive atmosphere that unites neighbours and visitors in an unforgettable celebration.
