A documentary exploring four decades of artistic collaboration

The documentary Compàs de Silenci. Jean Marie del Moral – Miquel Barceló, directed by Cesc Mulet, focuses on the close relationship between Jean Marie del Moral and Miquel Barceló since their first meeting in 1985, when the photographer captured the painter in his Parisian studio. Since then, Del Moral has documented Barceló’s artistic evolution in different locations, including Barcelona, Paris, Mali, Artà, Palermo, and Vilafranca de Bonany.

In the photographer’s own words, his work has been like “writing a novel with photographs, a novel immersed in the silences of the studio”, reflecting Barceló’s artistic transformation and maturity over time.

The presentation will feature a screening of a fragment of the documentary and a conversation between director Cesc Mulet and photographer Jean Marie del Moral, offering a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the creative process behind this audiovisual work.

Expanded Exhibition: Jean Marie del Moral, retrats de Miquel Barceló

Alongside the presentation of the documentary Compàs de Silenci. Jean Marie del Moral – Miquel Barceló, the public will have the chance to experience the expansion of the exhibition Toni Catany, retrats i ceràmiques de Miquel Barceló, featuring a series of portraits taken by Jean Marie del Moral over the years. These images, donated to the Fundació Toni Catany, are now part of the ongoing exhibition, creating a visual dialogue between the artistic visions of Toni Catany and Jean Marie del Moral regarding Miquel Barceló.

This exhibition expands the photographic legacy of two of the most important portraitists of the Mallorcan artist, connecting their distinct perspectives on Barceló and his creative process.
