The Italian restaurant Kurobota Contraste, located in the heart of Santa Catalina, held a tasting of its menu last Friday for around 25 culture and gastronomy journalists and content creators from Mallorca, led by Italian chef Pamela Menegoli

Kurobota Contraste is the result of a culinary story that combines the essence of Italian cuisine with delicate Japanese awareness, all through the use of local products. This space represents the link between two parallel cultures, the Mediterranean and the Asian, where the traditions and distinctive flavours of both regions converge.

Its cuisine fuses the traditions and techniques of different cultures, especially Italian, particularly direct from Bologna, with a nod to Japanese. Each ingredient is carefully selected to ensure quality and freshness. Executive Chef Pamela Menegoli delighted diners with a tasting menu in which the contrast of flavours was unparalleled. Dishes such as tuna tartar and parmigiano cheese, friggione bolognese bao buns, cottoleta tonkasu revisited, cauliflower and kimchi croquette or short rib tacos with secret sauce, among others, all washed down with local broths, delighted all those in attendance.

Kurobota Contraste, a culinary oasis in the heart of Palma

A mixture of Mediterranean passion, Asian precision and personal spirit give rise to a culinary adventure at Kurobota Contraste in which “the identity of the main dish prevails, using oriental components, particularly from Japan, achieving a unique contrast”, explains the project manager and owner of the restaurant, GianMario Sacquegna, who personally attended all the media in attendance.

This new space is presented as a neutral oasis in a rustic environment that fuses diverse cultures. The use of natural elements, such as the old woods on the ceilings, tables and bar, evoke a cosy atmosphere. Kurobota Contraste is undoubtedly a gastronomic space that will be on the agenda of local residents and visitors in the heart of Palma.
