The IX Ciclop Festival, taking place from 13th to 15th September in Sineu, has become a benchmark for the performing arts in Mallorca. Organised by the Levantamos el C.IN.E. Association, in collaboration with the Sineu Town Council, the festival offers a diverse programme featuring visual theatre, circus, dance, and object theatre.
2024 Ciclop Festival programme
The festival boasts a varied selection of performances. This year’s highlights include the participation of circus artist Manolo Alcántara, winner of the 2021 National Circus Award, who will present his acclaimed show Maña. Another standout is the Balearic-Irish Circus Cabaret, which will combine short performances by local and international artists, providing a unique blend of disciplines.
Among the Irish companies invited are Síolta Collective and Squarehead Productions, bringing a fresh, contemporary perspective to the festival. Meanwhile, the local programme is headlined by the company Dados with their play Oficios Olvidados, and La Mecánica, who will present the immersive show Odiseas, a reflection on technology and identity in an intergenerational context.
Ciclop PRO and sustainability
Ciclop PRO also returns with its professional workshops, this year focusing on the use of public space as a stage. These sessions will be curated by the collectives Güilis and Baldío, who will explore the relationship between art and urban space.
The festival aligns with sustainability strategies, maintaining its commitment to Plastic Free Balearics and promoting environmentally friendly practices.
An international gathering
The IX Ciclop Festival in Sineu has established itself as a platform for both emerging and established artists, blending tradition and innovation in the performing arts. The event is supported by local and international institutions, including the Consell de Mallorca and the Institute of Balearic Studies.
