Uncomfortable stories, fresh perspectives, award-winning cinema and key names in today’s short-film scene. Over two nights, Palma turns its gaze to the very best in short-form filmmaking with the 1st Mostra de Curtmetratges Premios Fugaz, a showcase bringing together 12 short films from across Spain.

The 1st Mostra de Curtmetratges Premios Fugaz will take place on 3 and 10 February 2026, from 7.00 pm, at the Teatre Municipal Maruja Alfaro Mar i Terra, with a line-up that combines acclaimed titles, new talent and a strong presence of Balearic cinema. Admission is free until capacity is reached.

The showcase is linked to the Premios Fugaz, Spain’s leading short-film awards, and offers audiences the chance to enjoy on the big screen some of the most notable productions of the past year.

Balearic cinema takes centre stage with Blava terra, by Marine Auclair March; Background, by Toni Bestard; and De Madrid al cielo, produced by the Mallorcan company Baldufa Films and recognised as Best Film School Short at the most recent Premios Fugaz.

    An unsettling chill creeps into what seemed like an idyllic summer.
  • Insalvable (18’)

    Mauro has arranged to have dinner at a luxury restaurant with Ángel, a stranger whose life he saved a few weeks ago.
  • Blava terra (19’)

    Mallorca, 1940. Elionor discovers the adult world on a remote estate whose inhabitants have never left. Everything changes with the arrival of a film.
  • Pipiolos (24’)

    Cast: Marta Etura, Nur Levy, Diego García, Iker Ruiz, Olivia Manzano, Jorge Cabrera, José María Pertusa, Mónica Caballero
    Two mothers begin a relationship. Two 13-year-old boys. A new family unit and a summer holiday where they hope their children will come to understand their love.

  • Pálpito (17’)

    Three years after bullfighting was abolished in Spain, Rafael Jesús can no longer become the star matador he was destined to be. He wanders the streets trying to fit into a world with no place for him.
  • Behind The Wall (16’)

    Documentary
    Tareq Samhan, a former combatant of the Al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas), is released after 13 years in prison.
  • La mort (13’)

A new cultural date in Palma

The event was presented at the Teatre Municipal Maruja Alfaro Mar i Terra by the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture, Javier Bonet, accompanied by the General Coordinator for Culture and Tourism, Fernando Gómez de la Cuesta, and the Director General for Music and Performing Arts, Rafel Brunet. Also present were Marine Auclair March, director of Blava terra, and Toni Bestard, director of Background. Bonet said that this event “reinforces Mallorca’s role as a film set and highlights the excellent moment Balearic-made cinema is enjoying”.

With this first edition, the Mostra de Curtmetratges Premios Fugaz joins Palma’s cultural calendar as an opportunity to discover the very best of contemporary Spanish short filmmaking, reinforcing Mallorca’s role as a space for creation and film exhibition.
