Sa Bassa Blanca Museum in Alcúdia presents a new exhibition that blends contemporary fashion with historical art: the Agatha Ruiz de la Prada exhibition at Sa Bassa Blanca, a unique project that invites visitors to rediscover the iconic NINS collection through the designs of the renowned Spanish designer.

From June 2025 to August 2026, the underground space Aljub—home to courtly children’s portraits from the 16th to the 19th centuries—will also feature six children’s outfits designed by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. The exhibition creates a visual and conceptual dialogue between the historical pieces in the NINS collection and the colorful, avant-garde creations of the designer, building a narrative that spans centuries of evolution in children’s fashion.

A conversation across centuries: art, childhood and design

The works of Zuloaga and Anglada-Camarasa are not the only ones connecting past and present this season in Mallorca. At Sa Bassa Blanca Museum, the new exhibition featuring Agatha Ruiz de la Prada invites visitors to observe how childhood aesthetics have evolved, from the rigid garments of European nobility to the more free, expressive, and conceptual designs of the 21st century.

Among the highlights of this NINS edition are the Portrait of Louis XIV and his nurse by French artist Charles Beaubrun, and the Portrait of Louis XIII by Flemish painter Frans Pourbus the Younger. From Italy, the museum presents the Portrait of Ferdinand II de’ Medici, recently added to the collection, alongside works by brothers Domenico and Valore Casini.

In contrast, six dresses by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada—originally showcased on the Pitti Immagine Bimbo children’s fashion runway in Florence between 2002 and 2009—bring color, symbolism, and poetry to the room. Among them are the iconic Menina dress, a hand-painted silk coat, a lurex dress with PVC and felt details, as well as delicate silk and tulle or cotton velvet pieces from autumn-winter and spring-summer collections.

Sa Bassa Blanca Museum: a unique experience in Alcúdia

The Agatha Ruiz de la Prada exhibition at Sa Bassa Blanca stands out not only for its originality, but also for its documentary and artistic value. This showcase positions the museum as a benchmark for creating dialogues between eras, disciplines, and aesthetics.

Open year-round, the museum offers visitors a full experience of art, architecture, and nature in one of Mallorca’s most privileged settings. The visit to the NINS collection, viewed through this new lens, is ideal for both fashion lovers and fans of historical art and contemporary culture.
