The Cinema Lliure Talks return this December with a very special edition: for the first time in an in-person format. On 2, 3 and 4 December 2025, Palma and Alcúdia will host three sessions combining screenings of feature films and short films with open conversations with their creators. This is a unique opportunity to discover emerging talent from the Balearic Islands and Catalonia, learn about award-winning works, and engage directly with professionals from the audiovisual sector.

Organised by Cinema Lliure, this cycle has become, in recent years, a meeting point for students, independent film enthusiasts and creators who seek a space to share processes, challenges and new perspectives. After two online editions, the Talks take a step forward and debut their in-person version across three key venues: Edifici Sa Riera (UIB), Can Sales Public Library (Palma) and Can Torró Library (Alcúdia).

All sessions are free of charge, with open entry and no advance registration required, until capacity is reached.

What is Cinema Lliure?

Cinema Lliure is a project by Mago Production dedicated to promoting independent cinema and emerging talent in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. Under this umbrella, several initiatives have emerged:

  • Cinema Lliure a la Platja, a free open-air summer film series held on beaches in Mallorca and Catalonia.
  • Cinema Lliure a la Biblioteca (2019–2022)
  • Cinema Lliure Connecta (2022–2023)
  • Cinema Lliure Talks (since 2023)

The Talks have evolved into a space where reflection, industry and creativity come together in open dialogue, and this edition introduces direct interaction between audiences and filmmakers for the first time.
