The relationship between art and nature is as old as artistic creation itself. This essential connection is the core of the new major exhibition on view at CaixaForum Palma until 15 February 2026, a show that brings together nearly eighty works from the Centre Pompidou and offers an in-depth reflection on the bond between culture, science and the natural world.
The exhibition traces a journey through 20th-century art and the early 21st century, exploring how different artists have observed, interpreted and transformed the forms of nature over more than a hundred years of contemporary creation.
A Centre Pompidou exhibition in Palma

Organised around works from the Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre d’Art Georges Pompidou, the exhibition features key figures such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Le Corbusier, Raoul Hausmann, Jean Dubuffet, Georgia O’Keeffe, Alvar Aalto and Neri Oxman, among many others.
Painting, sculpture, photography, design and architecture engage in dialogue within a single space, offering a transversal and non-hierarchical view of contemporary art and its relationship with the natural environment.
Art, nature and contemporary crisis
The exhibition takes on particular relevance in today’s context, marked by climatic, ecological and territorial crises. In this scenario, nature—as we know it—appears under threat, making it necessary to rethink our relationship with the world on which we depend.
Far from a didactic or chronological approach, the exhibition invites visitors to reconsider the links between humanity and nature, exploring how art has been—and continues to be—a tool for imagining the future through sensitivity, science and experimentation.
Four thematic sections
The exhibition route is structured around four major conceptual sections, articulating the different artistic approaches to the natural world:
-
Metamorphosis, as the constant transformation of forms.
-
Mimicry, where art and nature merge.
-
Creation, understood as a shared process between the natural and the human.
-
Threat, reflecting the fragility of the environment in the contemporary era.
This structure allows for an open reading, immersing visitors in a universe where nature appears as one of the last spaces of purity and truth in the digital age.
