Dinosaurs are coming to CaixaForum Palma with an exhibition that invites visitors to travel millions of years back in time to discover what these fascinating animals were like and what we know about them thanks to the work of palaeontologists. Dinosaurs of Patagonia opens to the public on 26 November 2026 and will run until 3 October 2027.
The exhibition explores the diversity of dinosaurs that once inhabited Patagonia in Argentina, one of the most important regions in the Southern Hemisphere for the study of these prehistoric animals. Through skeleton replicas, original fossils and informative displays, visitors can discover some of the most remarkable species found in this region.
Meet the giants of prehistory

Designed and produced by the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (MEF) in Trelew, Argentina, in collaboration with the ”la Caixa” Foundation, the exhibition features replicas of more than ten different species.
One of the highlights is Patagotitan mayorum, one of the largest dinosaurs ever discovered. Its replica is approximately 30 metres long. Other specimens showcase the variety of shapes and sizes found among Patagonian dinosaurs, from carnivorous species to giant herbivores.
But there is more to the exhibition than impressive skeletons. It also explains how palaeontologists work, how they interpret fossil remains and how they piece together the story of the living creatures that inhabited our planet millions of years ago.
How do palaeontologists work?
One of the exhibition’s aims is to introduce visitors to the scientific work behind every discovery. Fossils are valuable clues to the past: they help us understand what dinosaurs looked like, how they moved, what they ate and how different species evolved.
As they explore the exhibition, visitors can discover the adaptations that helped these animals survive and learn how evolutionary changes are recorded in the remains found in rocks. It is an opportunity to explore the history of the Earth and biodiversity through science.
Family activities inspired by the exhibition
CaixaForum Palma’s programme also includes activities designed to help younger visitors discover the world of dinosaurs through hands-on experiences.
These include the family tour ‘In the Footsteps of Patagotitan’, recommended for children aged four and over, and a reading and play area linked to the exhibition, aimed at families with children aged three and above. There will also be a Jurassic Camp workshop, where participants can reconstruct a dinosaur and the environment in which it lived using fossil remains and other materials.
These activities have their own dates, times and prices, so it is worth checking the CaixaForum programme before planning your visit.
