Felanitx once again becomes one of Mallorca’s major meeting points for contemporary art with Nitx del Art 2026. From 20th to 23rd August, the town centre will host 52 exhibition spaces and 18 live cultural events, including painting, installations, music, theatre, dance, fashion, performances and educational activities. The official opening will take place on Friday, 21st August.

Nitx del Art Felanitx 2026 returns this August with a programme that will spread artistic creation across galleries, historic buildings, public spaces and private homes throughout the municipality.

The event will take place from Thursday, 20th to Sunday, 23rd August and will once again form part of the atmosphere surrounding the Sant Agustí patron saint festivities, combining heritage, tradition and contemporary creativity.

This year’s edition is presented under the slogan “Leave your eyes at home and come with an open mind”, an invitation to approach the artworks from a critical perspective rather than through a purely visual reading.

When is Nitx del Art Felanitx 2026?

Nitx del Art Felanitx

The Nitx del Art programme will run over four days, from 20th to 23rd August 2026, although its main day will be Friday, 21st August.

That day will feature the main institutional events and the official opening of the art circuit.

Activities will begin at 7:30 pm at the Casa de Cultura, with the presentation of the awards for the 12th Ciutat de Felanitx Visual Arts Competition.

At 8:30 pm, the traditional proclamation of the Sant Agustí festivities will take place, delivered this year by journalist Gori Vicens. The official opening of Nitx del Art 2026 will follow.

52 exhibitions across Felanitx

One of the main attractions of this year’s edition will be the scale of the exhibition circuit.

The town centre will feature 52 spaces dedicated to art, spread across galleries, landmark buildings, public spaces, studios and private homes.

The initiative aims to turn the streets of Felanitx themselves into part of the route and encourage encounters between artists, residents and visitors.

The Casa de Cultura will once again play a prominent role. The Catalina Picó Pou room will display the finalist works from the 12th Ciutat de Felanitx Visual Arts Competition, while the Miquel Barceló room will host a work by Xesca Martorell Beltran, winner of last year’s edition.

Felanitx’s industrial heritage will also be represented through a project by Catalina Amengual, spread across four spaces this year.

Contemporary art and Baroque heritage meet again at Es Convent

One of the standout projects of Nitx del Art will once again take place at Es Convent, where contemporary art and Baroque heritage will be brought into dialogue for the third consecutive year.

Curators Sebastià Mascaró and Neus Cortés have selected a work by artist Eugenio Ampudia for this year’s edition.

The piece, El sueño de todo artista, is a video installation from 2000 that will be presented in dialogue with the chapel of the Virgen de los Socorros.

The project explores concepts such as refuge, aid and dreams, creating connections between the Baroque iconography of the space and the language of contemporary art.

Music, theatre, dance and performances in the streets

Nitx del Art Felanitx will not be limited to exhibitions.

The programme includes 18 live cultural and artistic events that expand the experience into the performing arts and music.

Over the four days there will be live music, theatre performances, fashion shows, dance performances, storytelling, performances and talks.

The first activities will begin on Thursday, 20th August, ahead of the official opening, and the programme will continue throughout the weekend.

During the main night, live music will also be heard at different points around the town, with a variety of styles and performances.

“Leave your eyes at home and come with an open mind”

The slogan chosen for the 2026 edition is “Leave your eyes at home and come with an open mind”.

Poster designer Maggie Adrover explained that the concept takes inspiration from Saint Lucy, patron saint of sight, and aims to place the viewer at the centre of the experience.

The aim is to encourage visitors to approach the exhibitions with a critical perspective, reflecting the diversity of styles and disciplines represented throughout the programme.

Art and the Sant Agustí festivities in Felanitx

Nitx del Art once again coincides with the Sant Agustí patron saint festivities, turning Felanitx for several days into a meeting point between popular celebration and contemporary creativity.

The opening on Friday 21st will take place immediately after the proclamation of the festivities, reinforcing the connection between the two programmes.

With 52 exhibition spaces and 18 live events, the 2026 edition offers a broad journey through different ways of understanding art, from painting and installations to music, dance and performance.
