The Palma Dansa 2026 festival celebrates its 19th edition from April 29 to May 3, 2026, consolidating itself as one of the leading cultural events dedicated to contemporary dance in Mallorca. Over several days, Palma will become a large open-air stage featuring free performances, innovative choreographies and national and international artists.

The festival will officially open on Wednesday, April 29, at 7:00 pm, in the lobby of Palma City Hall with the performance “Risa y olvido”, starring Taiwanese dancer from the Spanish National Ballet Yu Hsien Hsueh.

The official presentation of the festival took place at Can Oms, with the participation of Palma’s Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture, Javier Bonet, alongside the festival’s artistic director, Mar Aguiló.

During the presentation, Bonet highlighted the festival’s positive evolution and thanked Aguiló for her work leading Palma Dansa for the third consecutive year. He also emphasized the collaboration between various institutions and cultural venues across Mallorca participating in this edition.

“Risa y olvido”, the opening performance

The festival will begin with “Risa y olvido”, a performance by Taiwanese dancer Yu Hsien Hsueh, member of the Spanish National Ballet.

The piece won the first prize at the Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Competition and is considered one of the highlights of this year’s edition. According to Javier Bonet, the performance represents “the best possible opening” for a festival committed to excellence and the international projection of dance.

Closing performance at Bellver Castle

The closing event of Palma Dansa 2026 will take place on Sunday, May 3, at 7:00 pm, at Bellver Castle.

The final performance will be led by acclaimed choreographer Sharon Eyal together with her dancers, in one of the most anticipated shows of the programme.

Palma Balla 2026: dance takes over the streets

As a prelude to the festival, Palma will also host a new edition of Palma Balla, a large open-air dance celebration taking place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Plaça Major.

The event will feature performances by several dance schools and academies from Mallorca:
