A well-established Irish tradition in Calvià

The celebration of Saint Patrick in Santa Ponça is one of the most anticipated events of the year for the Irish community living in Mallorca. In fact, Calvià is the only municipality on the island where this festivity dedicated to Ireland’s patron saint is officially celebrated.

Although it is a tradition that originated in Ireland, more and more people from different nationalities join the celebration each year to enjoy its atmosphere, music and culture.

The Ajuntament de Calvià invites both residents and visitors to take part in the event and enjoy the Irish atmosphere that will fill the seafront area of Santa Ponça.

A multicultural festive calendar in Calvià

The municipality’s popular celebrations stand out for reflecting the diversity of its population. Throughout the spring, Calvià hosts several events that combine tradition, multiculturalism and a festive spirit.

Among them are Saint George’s Day, celebrated in April in Palmanova with parades and music, and Europe Day in May, a family event aimed at promoting the founding values of the European Union such as solidarity, mutual understanding and social cohesion.
