Sencelles will once again be the stage for one of the most original and carefree summer festivals in Mallorca: the Embala’t 2025. This traditional gathering, where straw and water take center stage in a fun-filled battle, will be held over the weekend of August 9th and 10th as part of the Festes de la Mare de Déu d’Agost program.

Saturday, August 9: the Capta de l’Embala’t begins

The festivities will officially kick off on Saturday, August 9 at 11:30 a.m. in the Plaça de la Vila with the Start of the Capta de l’Embala’t. This opening day will feature:

  • The raising and dancing of the gegants Tamborino and Mustaca

  • Traditional music by the xeremiers of the group Es Capoll Llarg

  • The appearance of the Dimoni de Sencelles “Dembolat”

  • The hoisting of Na Fideva and the Embala’t flag

This event marks the beginning of the festive spirit in the streets of Sencelles, full of local symbols and lively atmosphere. Important note: the weekly market will not be held on this day.

Sunday, August 10: Embala’t 2025 kicks off

The highlight of the festival arrives on Sunday, August 10 at 11:30 a.m. in the Plaça Nova with the official start of Embala’t 2025. As tradition dictates, it will follow its customary festive protocol, which includes:

  • The opening speech

  • Live xeremies music

  • A performance by the iconic garbejadors

  • Games with mobylettes

  • The popular “fideus de roter” lunch

  • The symbolic collection of straw bales

And of course, the grand straw and water battle, where locals and visitors join in armed with joy, buckets, and a sense of humor. A celebration that breaks the mold and turns the heart of Sencelles into a giant playground for all.
