Art and chocolate come together in a unique exhibition at Sa Refinadora. Until April 30, the sociocultural space of Marratxí hosts “Art amb gust,” a large-format sculptural exhibition made entirely of chocolate by master pastry chef Maties Miralles.
Open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday with free admission, the exhibition features five figures in the shape of a voltor negre (black vulture), crafted with no internal structures and using only cocoa. A striking work that combines technical virtuosity with strong symbolic meaning.
Chocolate, memory and territory
“Art amb gust” is much more than an artistic proposal. It is a reflection on the fragility of Balearic nature and a tribute to the artist’s childhood memories in the countryside, as well as to the pastry-making tradition of Holy Week. “It’s a pleasure to share the hours of effort with the residents of the municipality in a space like Sa Refinadora,” said Miralles at the opening.
The exhibition features pieces with evocative titles such as Vetllant les mones, Niu heteronormatiu, Quin berenar!, Prendre el vol, Voltor mascle, and Peus a terra, creating a poetic and powerful scenography.
A cultural experience for all the senses
The opening event brought together local authorities such as the mayor of Marratxí, Jaume Llompart, and the Councillor for Culture, Carmen Cañellas, who highlighted the value of this initiative:
“It reflects our commitment to culture, tradition, and heritage, especially in relation to something as close to us as Easter gastronomy.”
During the evening, attendees also enjoyed a small cocoa tasting offered by the artist himself.
