Golf Son Muntaner will host the Mallorca Ladies Golf Open from 16th to 18th November 2023. A tournament that will bring together the best golfers in Europe and is part of the Ladies European Tour (LET), the women’s professional golf circuit in Europe. The event will be the penultimate stage before the Race to Costa del Sol, an important classification within the circuit.
Emotion Sports España will be the promoter of this Mallorca Ladies Golf Open in Mallorca at Golf Son Muntaner. The course was inaugurated in 2000 and designed by the architect Kurt Rossknecht. This three-year agreement is supported by the Patronato de Turismo de Mallorca and will involve the participation of 72 players, of which 64 will be from the LET and the remaining eight will be guests.
The tournament will be played under the 54-hole Stroke Play format without a cut, with a total prize money of 400,000 euros. In addition, it will award points for the World Ranking and also for the Race to Costa del Sol, which makes it an event of great relevance in the circuit.
First time in Mallorca
Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of e|motion, expressed his excitement at welcoming the Ladies European Tour’s top players to Mallorca. This will be the first occasion for the LET stars to gather in Mallorca, and comes just a few weeks after the thrilling defence of the Solheim Cup on Spanish soil. The setting at Club de Golf Son Muntaner is considered an ideal venue for professional golf and has been a valuable partner for e|motion over the years.
Alexandra Armas, CEO of the LET, also underlined the importance of bringing elite golf to Mallorca for the first time and pointed out that Golf Son Muntaner is one of the most beautiful courses on the island. For this reason, they are looking forward to showcasing it at this crucial event in the season.
Armas also highlighted Spain’s commitment to women’s golf, emphasising the country’s hospitality and expressing great pride as a Spaniard in this contribution to the sport.
