The ‘My Favourite Spot’ competition has selected six images taken in the Balearic Islands by aspiring winners of the first prize in the national category. And a photograph of the most special corner of the archipelago could have a prize. The images, which have been published on Instagram, represent the most special places for those aspiring to win the contest. They are beautiful snapshots of corners throughout the Balearic archipelago: a sea embraced by cliffs in Formentor or young people admiring a sunset from their boat in Sant Antoni de Portmany have a special meaning for the contestants in the competition. Other selected photographs were taken in Alcúdia and Palma.
Its photographers aspire to win one of the five prizes and ten runners-up prizes awarded by the organisers in the national category: 500 euros for the winner, 400 euros for second prize, 300 euros for third, 200 euros for fourth and 100 euros for fifth place. There will also be 10 runners-up prizes of 50 euros for the best participating images. In total, ‘Mi Rincón Favorito’ will award 2,000 euros in prizes. More than 3,000 images from all over Spain are taking part in this year’s edition.
Samuel Rodríguez, head of the ‘Mi Rincón Favorito’ competition, explained that “the aim of this competition is to promote tourism through images with which many people have developed a special bond. Either because of their visual beauty or because of the sensations they experience when passing by, the participants show us unknown corners or offer their own perspective of those places we all know”.
The selected entries will be announced gradually until 22 September on the website www.mirinconfavorito.com; the winning images of the best favourite places in Spain will be announced on 27 September, World Tourism Day.
