Jazz once again takes centre stage on Calvi\u00e0\u2019s cultural agenda. The Calvi\u00e0 Town Council<\/strong>, through its Department of Culture, has presented the 5th edition of the Cicle Jazz a Calvi\u00e0<\/strong>, a well-established event that will offer four high-level concerts between February and March 2026<\/strong> in different performance venues across the municipality.<\/p>\n

The aim of the cycle is to energise the winter cultural programme<\/strong>, bring jazz to a wide range of audiences and highlight municipal venues and theatres outside the high tourist season. The 2026 edition proposes a musical journey ranging from the most intimate solo piano<\/strong> to the classic swing of the great big bands<\/strong>, alongside contemporary approaches and Afro-American roots.<\/p>\n

Sin\u00e9ad Cormican opens the cycle in Palmanova<\/h3>\n

On Saturday, 7 February<\/strong>, the cycle will kick off at the Sala Palmanova<\/strong> with a performance by Sin\u00e9ad Cormican<\/strong>, singer and violinist, who will open the programme with a repertoire based on great American popular classics<\/strong>. Her proposal combines vocal elegance and instrumental sensitivity, offering a concert that is both accessible and sophisticated.<\/p>\n

Sergi Sell\u00e9s, solo piano in Peguera<\/h3>\n

The second concert will take place on Saturday, 21 February<\/strong> at the Auditori de Peguera<\/strong>, featuring pianist Sergi Sell\u00e9s<\/strong>. He will present a solo piano concert<\/strong>, an intimate and introspective experience in which he will unveil new compositions and create a direct dialogue with the audience.<\/p>\n

Goran Levi and his band in Calvi\u00e0 Vila<\/h3>\n

On Friday, 13 March<\/strong>, the Teatre Sa Societat in Calvi\u00e0 Vila<\/strong> will host guitarist Goran Levi<\/strong>, performing with his band. The concert promises an intense, high-energy evening, rooted in Afro-American jazz<\/strong>, and will serve to present new material to the local audience.<\/p>\n

Ponent Big Band closes the cycle with classic swing<\/h3>\n

The final concert will be given by the Ponent Big Band<\/strong> on Sunday, 15 March<\/strong>, also at the Teatre Sa Societat in Calvi\u00e0 Vila<\/strong>. This ensemble, made up of musicians from Calvi\u00e0 and Andratx<\/strong>, will revive the spirit of the great jazz orchestras with a repertoire dedicated to legends such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n

A firm commitment to live music during the winter<\/h2>\n

The Councillor for Culture, Teresa Tena<\/strong>, highlighted during the presentation the importance of maintaining a strong cultural programme throughout the year. According to her, the Cicle Jazz a Calvi\u00e0<\/strong> proves that there is a loyal and discerning audience<\/strong> that values live music and artistic quality beyond the tourist season.<\/p>\n

The Town Council stresses that this fifth edition reinforces its commitment to jazz, local talent and new creative proposals<\/strong>, consolidating Calvi\u00e0 as a cultural reference point during the winter months as well.<\/p>\n
