The Canamunt i Canavall 2025 battle<\/strong> is already heating up in Palma, becoming one of the most anticipated events on the city\u2019s cultural calendar. This traditional water gun<\/strong> fight has its origins in a historic conflict between two factions of the capital, the neighborhoods of Canamunt and Canavall, which have maintained rivalries since the 17th century, marked by the division of a stream that no longer exists today.<\/p>\n

Although the stream disappeared, the tradition remains alive through an event that combines history, fun, and community. Today, the Canamunt i Canavall battle not only recalls Palma\u2019s historical roots but also offers a unique experience for both locals and visitors. Participants are identified by their colors: red for Canamunt and yellow for Canavall, although it is not mandatory to reside in the historical territory of the corresponding side.<\/p>\n

September 5 \u2013 Start of the festival<\/h3>\n

The opening speech will be given by Joana Daviu (17th century), known for disguising herself as a man and accused of banditry and murder. Alongside her, the traditional desplegada de blasons<\/strong> will take place, an act that officially marks the beginning of the festival.<\/p>\n
