This tradition originated at the end of the melon and watermelon harvest, when children would hollow out these fruits and place a candle inside to create their own lanterns.<\/p>\n<p>During the festival, children will <strong>walk through the streets<\/strong> of Alc\u00fadia with their lanterns, <strong>singing traditional songs<\/strong> and enjoying this unique celebration with family and friends.<\/p>\n<h2>A centuries-old tradition<\/h2>\n<p>Originally, these lanterns imitated the lamps of the \u201cserenos\u201d, the night watchmen, and were also used to illuminate and decorate dances after the harvest. Over time, lanterns made from other fruits and vegetables, such as peppers, courgettes or lemons, have been incorporated, keeping the tradition alive.<\/p>\n<h3>Details of the <strong>Festa de les Llanternes 2025<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\ud83d\uddd3\ufe0f <strong>Date:<\/strong> 24 August<br \/>\n\ud83d\udd50 <strong>Time:<\/strong> 21:00 H<br \/>\n\ud83d\udccd <strong>Starting point and route:<\/strong> In front of La Sala; La Sala \u2192 Carrer del Moll \u2192 Carrer de la Roca \u2192 Carrer de n\u2019Amor\u00f3s \u2192 Carrer Lledoners \u2192 Carrer del Progr\u00e9s \u2192 Carrer Major \u2192 Carrer de l\u2019Esgl\u00e9sia \u2192 Carrer Sant Jaume \u2192 Carrer Albellons \u2192 Placeta de les Verdures<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the walk, in the Placeta de les Verdures, children will be able to collect <strong>sweets and <em>bufetes<\/em><\/strong> thrown from the balconies.
