\"PresentationTomorrow, Friday, February 7 at 7:30 PM<\/strong>, the Centre Internacional de Fotografia Toni Catany (CIFTC)<\/a><\/strong> will host the presentation of the documentary Comp\u00e0s de Silenci. Jean Marie del Moral – Miquel Barcel\u00f3<\/em><\/strong>, directed by Cesc Mulet<\/strong>. This documentary explores the more than forty-year relationship between photographer Jean Marie del Moral<\/strong> and artist Miquel Barcel\u00f3<\/strong>, offering a unique perspective on the creative process of the Mallorcan painter.<\/p>\n

Coinciding with the documentary presentation, the expanded exhibition Jean Marie del Moral, retrats de Miquel Barcel\u00f3<\/a><\/em><\/strong> will open, complementing the exhibition \u201cToni Catany, retrats i cer\u00e0miques de Miquel Barcel\u00f3\u201d with a new selection of portraits by Del Moral, drawn from his personal collection and a donation made to the Fundaci\u00f3 Toni Catany<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A documentary exploring four decades of artistic collaboration<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The documentary Comp\u00e0s de Silenci. Jean Marie del Moral – Miquel Barcel\u00f3<\/em><\/strong>, directed by Cesc Mulet<\/strong>, focuses on the close relationship between Jean Marie del Moral<\/strong> and Miquel Barcel\u00f3<\/strong> since their first meeting in 1985<\/strong>, when the photographer captured the painter in his Parisian studio. Since then, Del Moral has documented Barcel\u00f3’s artistic evolution in different locations, including Barcelona, Paris, Mali, Art\u00e0, Palermo, and Vilafranca de Bonany.<\/p>\n

In the photographer\u2019s own words, his work has been like “writing a novel with photographs, a novel immersed in the silences of the studio”<\/strong>, reflecting Barcel\u00f3’s artistic transformation and maturity over time.<\/p>\n

The presentation will feature a screening of a fragment of the documentary and a conversation between director Cesc Mulet<\/strong> and photographer Jean Marie del Moral<\/strong>, offering a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the creative process behind this audiovisual work.<\/p>\n

Born in France<\/strong> to Spanish exiled parents, Jean Marie del Moral<\/strong> began his career in photojournalism, documenting social movements and historical events such as the Carnation Revolution in Portugal<\/strong>. Throughout his career, he has worked for prestigious publications such as L\u2019Humanit\u00e9, Fortune Magazine, Vogue, Madame Figaro, El Pa\u00eds Semanal<\/strong>, and Travel and Leisure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

His encounter with Joan Mir\u00f3<\/strong> in 1978<\/strong> was pivotal in shaping his trajectory, leading him to specialize in photographing the studios and creative processes of renowned artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Motherwell, Antoni T\u00e0pies, Antonio Saura, Julian Schnabel, and Zao Wou-Ki<\/strong>. His work with Miquel Barcel\u00f3<\/strong> has been one of his longest and most significant collaborations, documenting the painter\u2019s life and work over four decades.<\/p>\n
