Art and crafts are intertwined in Mallorca’s Craft Week. A week dedicated to honouring the tradition, creativity and skill of local artisans. The Consell de Mallorca, in collaboration with various cultural actors, has organised two extraordinary events to celebrate European Crafts Week on the island, highlighting the richness and uniqueness of these ancestral trades.<\/p>\n
The first event, a gathering of artisans, will take place in the town of Alar\u00f3 on Friday 5 April. This innovative initiative aims to create a space for dialogue and collaboration between Mallorcan artisans, promoting interaction and the exchange of knowledge. The vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca and councillor for Culture and Heritage, Ant\u00f2nia Roca, emphasised the importance of this meeting, stressing that craftsmanship is an interconnected fabric of diverse trades that complement each other, from carpenters to ceramists, weavers to gastronomic artisans. In addition to round tables and debates on training and generational change, attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the shared experiences of local artisan families, learning from their challenges and solutions.<\/p>\n
To round off this week dedicated to handicrafts, on Sunday 7th April the first Spring Craft Fair will be held in Alc\u00fadia, specifically on the picturesque Pere Ventayol promenade. The fair will not only offer an exhibition of art and crafts of the highest quality, but will also integrate unique cultural and heritage elements. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the ancient Roman city of Pollentia through free guided tours, immersing themselves in the history and cultural legacy of the region. In addition, musical performances are scheduled to delight children and adults alike, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere that celebrates the creativity and diversity of Mallorca’s craftsmanship.<\/p>\n
