This has been agreed through the signing of an agreement with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment, which has granted the municipality of Santany\u00ed the management of a seasonal kiosk-bar on the beach des cal\u00f3 d’en Garrot or ses Fonts de n’Alis, in the Mondrag\u00f3 Natural Park. The management of this kiosk-bar or removable beach bar may be carried out in any of the ways provided for in local legislation. In the case of indirect or mixed management, the duration of management by third parties is linked to the duration of the agreement. However, the agreement, which is expected to last for four years, provides for the creation of a Monitoring Commission as a surveillance and control mechanism.<\/p>\n
The mayoress of Santany\u00ed, Maria Pons, expressed her satisfaction with the signing of the agreement: “We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. During all the years that it has not been possible to operate the beach bar that was there, which has now been demolished, Santany\u00ed Town Council has lost income that helped to maintain the beach and the services it needs. That is why today is a great day, and I am convinced that it will mean an improvement for the people of Santany\u00ed and for visitors”.<\/p>\n
In addition, the Santany\u00ed Town Council undertakes to install wooden sanitary cabins for public use during the months the kiosk-bar is in operation, and to collect and manage the waste generated both in the area of the removable kiosk-bar and on the beach of ses Fonts de n’Alis. In addition, Santany\u00ed Town Council also undertakes to collaborate in the execution of the comprehensive project to restore the dune habitats of community interest on the beach of ses Fonts de n’Alis, to improve the surrounding landscape and to monitor the dune area to be recovered.<\/p>\n
Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment and the Santany\u00ed Town Council will be responsible for coordination between the staff of the Regional Ministry and the Town Council who carry out tasks in the area of the beach bar or kiosk-bar and the Mondrag\u00f3 Natural Park, and for signposting the area in accordance with the corporate identity criteria and the Government’s signposting manual for protected natural spaces.<\/p>\n
