During these days the Nit de l’Art is celebrated in Palma, the 24th edition of the most important artistic event of the island is held during four days. From the 16th to the 19th of September with daytime hours this year, between 12:00 and 18:00, we will be able to enjoy this initiative.
Frederic Pinya, president of Art Palma Contemporani, stated at the presentation of the cultural event at the Pelaires Gallery that “we will once again open the galleries together so that the exhibitions and proposals of the spaces can be visited, enjoyed and thought about during the day. This is how we think contemporary art should be lived and enjoyed. In a calm and slow way, with time and without crowds. This is how we are going to celebrate art and culture, in a safe way.
The main galleries and museums in Palma are participating in this cultural initiative. The full programme of this year’s Nit de l’Art has the support of Palma City Council, the Consell de Mallorca, the Institut d’Estudis Balearics – Conselleria de Presidència, Cultura i Igualtat and the Institut Ramon Llull. Thanks to them, La Nit de l’Art will also be present at the Casal Solleric, Caixa Forum, Es Baluard Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma and the Fundació Miró Mallorca.
This year there will be no screenings or talks, but guided tours are organised along various routes through the galleries and spaces associated with the Nit de l’Art. The tours are free and open to all, during one hour and requiring registration through a form on the website artpalmacontemporani.com
The mediators of these dialogues with art will be Mònica Galván, curator; Gabriel Llinàs, artist and curator; Jaume Reus, art historian and cultural manager and Pau Waelder, curator, critic and teacher.
Although the Nit de l’Art will run until Saturday 19 September, taking a tour of some of the art galleries and museums on Mallorca is something that should always be on your to-do list. In addition, many of the exhibitions that open these days continue until the end of the year.
