Mallorca will be present in the new season of the popular Masterchef program, which starts on Tuesday, April 13. Its well-known judges, along with the entire team, traveled to Palma last January, where they recorded a spectacular outdoor competition that will be part of the ninth edition of the culinary talent show of La 1 de TVE. The broadcast of the popular program will have an important promotional impact for the Mallorca destination, according to the Consell, since it is one of the leading audience formats in ‘prime time’ on Spanish public television.
The filming took place in one of the most emblematic settings of the island: the Parc de la Mar, where the Cathedral of Mallorca and the Paseo Marítimo de Palma converge. For this, the program had the collaboration of the Mallorca Tourism Foundation and the Palma 365 Tourism Foundation,
The Mediterranean taste of Mallorca
Local gastronomic product will be one of the main protagonists of the program. The menus prepared by the applicants will have some of the most characteristic local ingredients of Mallorcan gastronomy. In addition, for this occasion there were two renowned chefs: Maca de Castro and Santi Taura. The presence of this culinary talent contest and its famous jury, made up of Samantha Vallejo-Nágera, Jordi Cruz and Pepe Rodríguez, will contribute to show the island as a top gastronomic tourist destination.
Along these lines, Pepe Rodríguez pointed out: “For us, coming to Mallorca represents the perfect beginning. Here we are calm: the environment, culture and gastronomy of Palma are perfect to achieve it”. For her part, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera pointed out: “I feel at home, after so many summers of my childhood in Palma. At Masterchef we are in love with Mediterranean cuisine, flavored dishes that make us enjoy at the table. We hope that our aspirants live up to their surroundings. ” Finally, Jordi Cruz also wanted to value the presence of Masterchef in Mallorca: “We always want to return to the islands. Assessing new applicants in an outdoor test at Parc de la Mar is a privilege that we will know how to take advantage of”.
