The Pollença 2022 Festival starts this weekend, which this year celebrates its 61st edition. The first festival was held in 1962 as a result of the insistence of Philip Newman, a famous British violinist who had the initiative to create a great classical music concert ceremony on the island. That year, more than 800 artists participated in a historic festival held in the Claustre de Sant Domingo in Pollença. This historic venue is the birthplace of the Pollença Festival, which is well known throughout Mallorca and to visitors to the island. It is a great opportunity to attend the best classical music concerts in the open air.
The festival will feature guest conductor Sergio Alapont and Kristian Bezuidenhout at the piano. This opening night, the musical artists will kick off a magical month full of musical concerts in the wonderful Claustre de Sant Domingo. The Pollença 2022 Festival will be made up of several concerts that will be held on various nights throughout the month of August. Among the most renowned artists in Europe, we will find during this festival conductors such as David Afkham and William Christie, as well as pianists Francesco Piemontesi and Kristian Bezuidenhout.
So that you don’t miss any of the concerts of this magical summer festival, we bring you the complete programme. From Mallorca Caprice, we hope you enjoy an unforgettable night attending the Festival de Pollença 2022.
